Petco is expanding their earth-friendly pet line to include more commonly used items like paper cat litter. Petco’s new paper litter falls under the “Planet Petco” name and is a biodegradable paper cat litter made with 95% post consumer paper including magazines and newspapers.
The Planet Petco line of products includes toys, accessories, and furniture that is manufactured from natural or renewable materials. For instance, their Planet Petco brand rope dog toys use vegetable dyes and dog collars are made from recycled plastic bottles.
Petco plans to keep expanding the Planet Petco line of products and has several product launches coming this summer. Most notably, they plan to launch the “Planet Petcock” dog clothing line which will incorporate “TempAlert” technology from LuvGear of Canada. The dog clothing when worn by your dog is designed to warn dog owners when outside temperatures reach levels where it may be harmful or fatal to their dog.
In an effort to support sustainability, one percent of Planet Petco sales go to environmental groups that participate in the “1% for the Planet” program. Currently, Planet Petco products are available in all 1,500 Petco stores in the U.S.
